The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in apprehending Benjamin Ezeukwe, a 28-year-old individual responsible for orchestrating an elaborate scam that defrauded numerous unsuspecting Nigerians in a deceitful cement-price-slash scheme.
Benjamin Ezeukwe was apprehended on October 19, 2023, in the Rumuolumeni area of Obio/Akpor local government area in Rivers State. The arrest followed an extensive investigation conducted by officers from the Area A Command of the State Command. Among the items seized from him were one Tecno phone, one iPhone, three SIM cards, including the one registered under the number 08039691980 that he utilized for the fraudulent activity, and a Toyota Avalon identified as proceeds from his criminal activities.
The scam, initiated by the suspect in September 2023, involved the creation of a misleading online advertisement allegedly from Dangote Cement, falsely promoting a substantial price reduction. Tragically, numerous unsuspecting customers fell victim to this fraudulent scheme, resulting in the loss of millions of Naira.
Further investigation has uncovered several similar scams orchestrated by the suspect. Benjamin Ezeukwe has been arraigned as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
