The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT handed over five bags of Cannabis Sativa seized during an intelligence-driven operation to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), Festac Area Command. The consignment, weighing about 500kg, was intercepted on 18 February 2026 after the NNS BEECROFT Quick Response Team, acting on credible intelligence, stopped a van suspected of transporting illicit substances around Abule Osun area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area Lagos State.
Speaking during the handover, the Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, stated that the successful interception reflects the Nigerian Navy’s sustained efforts under the Leadership of Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Admiralty Medal, to curb illegal activities within Nigeria’s maritime environment.

This development further underscores the strengthening inter-agency cooperation aimed at dismantling drugs trafficking networks and ensuring a safer maritime domain for all.
