The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Command, Idiroko, witnessed a jubilant atmosphere on 11th January 2024, as newly promoted officers were celebrated and adorned with their new ranks.
The occasion, marked by camaraderie and festivity, saw colleagues, families, and friends coming together to honour the achievements of the promoted personnel.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, who was represented by the Deputy Comptroller Administration due to official engagements at the Service Headquarters Abuja, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the promoted officers.
He expressed gratitude to God for the grace on their promotions and commended the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi MFR dsm fnipr psc(+), and the Customs Board for recognizing the officers’ merit.
In his address, the representative of Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu emphasized the significance of the promotion, stating, “Your promotion is a privilege, many of you sat for the promotion examination but not all got promoted. You have to live up to expectations, to whom much is given much is expected.”
The newly promoted Comptroller AA Abdulkadir and former Deputy Comptroller Valuation of the Command shared insights with the officers. They advised the promoted personnel to adopt a different approach to their roles, encompassing aspects such as dressing, communication, and overall performance. The officers were also urged to anticipate higher responsibilities and more significant tasks in their elevated roles.
The decoration ceremony featured promotions for 4 Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSCs), 3 Superintendent of Customs (SCs), 7 Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSCs), 3 Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASCs I), and 2 Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCs II).
The Ogun 1 Command is notably blessed with the promotion of 3 Comptrollers of Customs, including the Customs Area Controller, 9 Assistant Comptrollers, 16 Chiefs Superintendent, and various other deserving officers. Chief Superintendent of Customs Hammed Bukoye Oloyede, the Public Relations Officer for Ogun 1 Command, reported the celebratory event, reflecting the pride and optimism within the command regarding the future contributions of the newly promoted officers.
