Highlighting the commitment to streamlined operations, Comptroller Yusuf reaffirmed the command’s focus on compliance and transparency as pivotal factors in expediting cargo clearance. He emphasized the concerted efforts of customs officers in conducting joint examinations with sister government agencies from 9 am to 4 pm, a move aimed at reducing delays associated with separate examinations.
Underlining PTML Command’s exemplary status, Comptroller Yusuf highlighted the record-breaking three-hour RoRo cargo clearance time, achieved due to a 100 percent compliance rate. He reiterated the sustainability of this efficient clearance process, contributing significantly to maintaining ample terminal space and averting congestion at PTML.
The recent arrival of the ‘MV Great Lagos,’ boasting the capacity to transport 2500 vehicles, 2000 containers, and 2500 general cargo and equipment, underscores the command’s capability to handle increased import volumes seamlessly.
While congratulating the Grimaldi Group for the successful arrival of ‘MV Great Lagos,’ Comptroller Yusuf urged all port users and stakeholders to prioritize compliance as a means to enjoy the lawful benefits of trade facilitation and enhance the ease of doing business.
Speaking passionately about the advantages of compliance, Comptroller Yusuf emphasized the correlation between swift cargo clearance and adherence to customs regulations. He reiterated that prompt and accurate declaration coupled with transparent processes leads to expedited examinations and release within a remarkable three-hour timeframe, ensuring uninterrupted cargo flow.
Highlighting the significance of transparency in customs operations, Comptroller Yusuf emphasized that transparent practices simplify processes, minimize interventions and infractions, and expedite time releases, in alignment with the World Customs Organisation’s principles embraced by customs administrations worldwide.
